(Sunday morning fog)

Summer Classes

Abbi and I have been getting ready for our Summer Class program : God's World Adventure Camp - Discovering God's Fingerprints Everywhere!

I had fun getting our project board ready and submitting ads to radio stations and tv and newspapers.

We're looking forward to starting in July! Please pray that we will have a good turn-out.

I'm hoping to update our lesson plans online as well!

Volleyball

We started playing volleyball every Friday night at church, just for fun!

Last week was our first time, and it rained a little, but not enough to stop us.
This week it's supposed to Thunderstorm?

I'm loosing Touch

I'm slowly realizing something about communication. It's something that ebbs and flows in different mediums, at least throughout my life it has.

Have you found this to be true: Email is getting less popular or effective?

The more I talk to people, the more I find they actually prefer talking face-to-face or phone-to-phone, than an email.

And Facebook is my nemesis.

I am not on Facebook. I have had pleanty of opportunities and well-meaning friends who have tried their best to convince me to join. But I'm not sure that you really want to know what color of pants I'm wearing today. Or how I'm feeling this hour (when it will be left up there for 4 hours even though my mood will change). Or that you want to see my lack of current pictures. I'm not sure that this influx of information will bring us any closer than a phone call, an email, a letter, or a visit will. And I'm not sure that I want to share that with the world.

Please understand, it's nothing personal. Yes, I definitely miss the ease of staying in touch that I lack, not being on facebook. But personally, I don't think being absent from that community is really what is hindering that. It's more my personality and laziness.

Believe me, I think of you quite often, but just never take the time to go the next step. It's something I want to work on. It's alot easier for me to blog or write a letter or email, than make phone calls or visits, but it's something that I've been thinking alot about this week, and Lord willing, will be growing from.

Cupcakes

I'm so in the mood for cupcakes. I was browsing pictures on Martha Stewart Living's website and it was inspiring. The recipe said these sugared panseys keep for 3 months....hmmmm.....
And this recipe looks easy....just ignore the part about "sprinkles are optional." Sprinkles are never optional!

Unless you do something like this:

I'm so glad there's a potluck coming up!

Saturday Fun

I went garage sale-ing early Saturday morning and it was fun!

The first two garage sales I went to were the best. After that, I got a little burned out, and headed back home by 10:30am.

This nice pot will come in handy for herbs, I think.

And this pretty bowl was only 75 cents.

My other "best deal" was a really good cookie sheet for 75 cents too.

How does your garden grow?

I've really been enjoying watching our little garden grow!

Over the weekend, I weeded and invested in a watering can and some miracle grow.
Last night I added some string between the sticks for my peas and morning glories to climb on.
One thing I've noticed, adding good dirt and manure this spring has REALLY helped!

And this is my mystery plant....I think it's a zucchini, but I don't remember :)

Cooking Flops

Hmmmm....I tried two new recipies (to me) recently, and they both flopped! :(
This is supposed to be apple -pie bars....but they were bitter and flat.
And this was supposed to be a Peach Tart...but the crust never baked and was raw no matter how long I kept putting it back in the oven! *sigh*

I do like baking, and was dissapointed not to have any treats to eat! But, I guess there's always next time!

Vegetable Curry

I was browsing around online, and found this interesting website, of Indian curries.
It came in handy, because I have some frozen stuff to use up (spinich and okra), which I don't really like the flavor of just by themselves....so, curry and spices come in handy!

As I try them, I will let you know if we actually like the recipes! ha ha!

Tonight should be fun

I'm really looking forward to tonight! Our neighbor and friend is coming over, for supper and playing and study. Mathew and Dana study, Mikayla and I play. Our normal activities include doing dishes and then playing dolls. Tonight I have some extra special projects that need to be done, and will fit just perfectly with little hands too!

Some things to look forward too:

Spring

It's spring/summer up here finally. I just can't help but bring some of it inside! My favorites are:
  • pink & white apple blossoms
  • lilacs
  • forget-me-nots
  • tulips

Have you ever done cards or flowers or fun stuff with flowers and their "meanings" ? I remember having lots of fun with this.

Check out some links and fun stuff here:
