One idea I read once, was posting a "schedule" for the day (for long term guests), either using a blackboard, posterboard, or white board.
Keep it simple, but you could include things like:
- The weather forecast for the day (you know, sunny, cloudy, raining, etc)
- 2-3 Timed events (i.e. Breakfast @ 8, Bike ride at 4pm, Ice cream at 7:30pm)
- A good morning quote

I never thought of using the white board for company. I use one with the fam to help shape (our sometimes shapless)days with schedule. Our guests are usually just in for a weekend, but that could even be helpful to all parties.
