Another great mom is my mom. Why, just today, when we were feeling so ill, she called up and said, "I'm bringing over some chicken noodle soup for you. Stay in bed." :) And she did....plus some homemade bread, and some blueberry muffins. Talk about a blessing!!!
I like thinking about all the things Mom taught me growing up, and, while Mathew and I don't have kids of our own yet, I like thinking about things to teach them too. Here are some things I think are important to teach:
- Love God
- Pray (authentically)
- Read their Bible on their own
- Cook and bake
- Sewing basics
- Wash dishes
- Clean a bathroom
- Mow the lawn
- Be a friend
- Take care of a pet
- Play board and card games
- Change a flat tire
- Read good books
- Grow a garden
- Make a bed
- Host friends for dinner
- Throw a ball & catch
- Use their imagination
- Do laundry/iron
- Make coffee
- Paint a room
- Be a friend
- Wrap a gift
- Manage money
- Make an omelet
- Proper etiquette/table manners
- Use tools
- Write a resume/cover letter
- Write a thank you note
- Dress appropriately for certain occasions
- Surf the internet safely
- Use the library
- Be respectful, loyal, and honest
What would you add??

How to learn and research on any subject they are interested in. How to study and get what they want from their research. They can continue learning all their lives if they know how to study, research, read with understanding, picking out what they need from the piles of information, disseminating and summarizing.
